FAQ

FAQ

Q: How many times a day should I brush?

A: Dr. Schmieder recommends, as do most dental professionals, at least two times per day.

Q: Why do I need X-rays every year?

A: Dr. Schmieder used the X-ray images to determine the health of your teeth and gums that cannot be seen by the naked eye in an examination. As a result Dr. Schmieder is able to treat dental problems (that can sometimes develop in a year) in their earliest stages.

Q: When should my child have their first dental appointment?

A: No later than his/her 3rd birthday.

Q: Why should I change my toothbrush every 3 months?

A: You should change your brush because the bristles can carry bacteria.

Q: What is the benefit of flossing?

A: Flossing removes the plaque and bacteria between teeth that you toothbrush cannot reach.

Q: Why are cleanings and check-ups so important?

A: Routine cleanings remove the hard calcium deposits that form on the teeth that cannot be removed with a toothbrush and floss. Keeping your teeth clean and free from plaque build-up promotes healthier teeth, gums and maintains bone support around the teeth. During your checkup, Dr. Schmieder checks for cavities and overall oral health. By seeing your family dentist twice a year, cavities are typically discovered during the early stages while they are still small and easily treated. PREVENTION IS THE KEY TO OVERALL HEALTH!
